Story
The target of the UEF is the preservation of historic railroad equipment. The association was founded in autumn 1971 to give home to tank engine 98 812 won by a student in a competition set by the German Federal Railway. The branch Amstetten - Gerstetten was and is the first trunk line. Since 1975 regular museum train service here is executed. With the ban on steamengines by the DB a new base appeard with the Albtal Verkehrs Gesellschaft at the Ettlingen - Bad Herrenalb line near the Black Forrest. This was the main line for tank enging 86 346 and later 01 1066. Since 1990 regular steam train rides are conducted on the narrow track Amstetten - Oppingen.
