Story

Created in 1976 upon the site of the remote Chemins de fer Èconomiques Valmondois-Marines, the fellowship members of the museum have patiently restored a considerable collection of vintage rolling stock originating in ancient railway companies. This proceeding has started by the salving of the wrecks of two locomotives of the remote Tramways de la Sarthe. The tracks of the lace shed are soon rebuilt and the collection completed by the first coaches of the association, from the Tramways d IIIe-et-Vilaine. In 1986, the volonteers undertake to rebuid a section of the ancient line. The Chemin de Fer des Impressionnistes opens to the public. From 1990 to 1992, a building is erected and fit up for the museum. To day, our collection is the largest in France as far as the topic about branch fine trains is concerned. In 1999, the fellowship has got a new naine, as the Musée des Tramways à Vapeur et des chemins de fer Secondaires français.
