In 1835 Georg Egestoff founded a factory for enginebuilding and ironmelting. As of 1846 also locomotives were build. This made the company one of the first locomotivefactories in Germany. In 1871 the company was changed into HANOMAG, the Hannover Enginebuilding Company. In those days one of the leading German manufacturers of steam engines. The crisis of the late 1920s announced the end of engine building in 1931.
