44422 details on steamloco.info

Story

Number 4422 was built at Derby Works in 1927. It was initially allocated to Leicester, then to Wigston in 1929, Bristol in 1940, and Bath Green Park in 1948, when it was renumbered 44422. It spent the rest of its working life in the South West of England, often running over the former Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. It was withdrawn from Gloucester shed in 1965 and sold to the Woodham Brothers for scrap. It was purchased by the 44422 Locomotive Company in 1977 and taken to the Churnet Valley Railway, where it was eventually restored to working order in 1990.
